Lithology and Thickness

It consists of dark gray clays with layers of limestones. Its thickness is 17-30 m in the Turkestan region and 15-65 m in the Zeravshan-Gissar region.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

Described deposits conformably overlie the Lower Cretaceous formations or lie with a sharp angular unconformity on the Paleozoic.

Upper contact

They are covered by the Coniacian-Maastrichtian layer.

Regional extent

The Upper Cenomanian and Lower Turonian (Gazdagansky and Talhabsky horizons) correspond to the Khujistsan Fm кухистнская сюtта. It is widespread in Turkestan region, including the Zeravshan valley, as well as in the Zeravshan-Gissar region.

Fossils

In it, Gaudryina asiatica N. Bykova, Korobkovitrigonia darwaseana (Rom.), Cyprimeria faba Sow., etc., have been found.
